We are honored to facilitate and officiate your Nikkah/Marriage ceremony.
The nikkah is a sacred act of worship and therefore upholding Islamic norms and etiquette during the ceremony is required.
Dar Al Taqwa offers nikkah services both at the premises of the masjid as well as throughout our local community.
Please complete the information below to initiate the Nikkah request. A Certificate of Marriage (marriage license) from the State of Maryland must be issued by the same county where the Nikkah is to take place.
Note: Minimum of two witnesses are required and must be present during the Nikkah ceremony.
Marriage Process – Office of Religious Affairs
In order for the Office of Religious Affairs to facilitate and be involved in the marriage process, the following steps must be completed in the order listed below:

Submission of Marriage License
A valid marriage license issued by the Howard County Courthouse must be submitted to the Director of Religious Affairs via email or WhatsApp.

Mandatory Premarital Meeting
After the license has been reviewed, a premarital meeting must be scheduled and attended by the prospective husband, prospective wife, and the wali, together with the Imam.

Scheduling the Nikah
Upon completion of the premarital meeting, suitable dates and times for the nikah will be discussed and arranged based on the availability of all parties.
Important Reminder:
The Office of Religious Affairs will not schedule either the premarital meeting or the nikah until the Howard County marriage license has been received and reviewed. Therefore, all reservations and related arrangements should be made only after completing the steps outlined above.
